Abstract Expressionism was more than Jackson Pollock’s wild tantrums with paint, those great splattering sh*t-fits that undoubtedly dazzle, but also dominate the genre. The RA shows us both the equally wild (Willem De Kooning) and the surprisingly sedate (Mark Rothko) faces of AE in one of London’s blockbuster autumn shows, which kicks off on Saturday.
