Mr Hyde is offering readers the chance to own an exclusive illustration of Iggy Pop, this week’s ShortList cover star, drawn by our new illustrator, Nimura Daisuke. Accompanied by his Post Pop Depression bandmates Josh Homme, Matt Helders and Dean Fertita, the picture captures Iggy in all his topless glory.
Japanese artist Daisuke has been influenced by Manga illustrator, Taiyō Matsumoto and Austrian painter, Egon Schiele and he’s been praised by design blog It’s Nice That as “charming, pure joyous work”.
Daisuke tells us the key to his acclaimed art is keeping things simple. “I try to reduce the number of lines to give a neat appearance,” he says, “and I strive to elicit a variety of things by using facial expressions and movements.”
