Things to do

This holiday season's best street food and pop-ups

London's food scene isn't going anywhere, Christmas or no Christmas

1. Mac & Wild Liverpool Street

9A Devonshire Square, EC2 Haggis! Buckfast! …Deep-fried haggis! Ah, Scottish food: the cliches are delicious! Luckily Mac & Wild are the saviours of your Saltire-tinged dreams and they’re running a three-month pop-up in Devonshire Square. The Venimoo Burger, haggis pops and Highland-fried pheasant are all present and correct.

2. Brockley Brewery

31 Harcourt Road, SE4 Open 11am-8.30pm NYE Stop in for a very reasonable pint at their Harcourt Road brewery, bar and shop. All the faves on tap and it’s a mere stone’s throw from the station.

3. Palm Vaults

411 Mare Street, E8 Restorative (if twee) fun in Hackney. Does the existence of an avocado fudge cake give you a clear idea of what you’re dealing with? An Insta-friendly experience, for sure. Oh, for sure.

4. Gingerbread Cabin

127-129 Parkway, NW1 This is basically a diabetes-inducing cabin at York & Albany in Camden Town. Crème brûlée, stem ginger and cranberry scones, gingerbread macaroons and a load of other blood-clotting beauties.

5. The Lodge

409 Clapham Road, SW4 You went skiing once, remember? Year 8, a 63-hour coach journey, the sprained ankle. Wicked. Loved it. Well The Lodge can bring it all flooding back! Only this time, hot toddies, fondue and the Northern Line home.
