A blockbuster season of autumn art shows in London – for the spectacles-on-a-string set, it's like a spurt of Marvel film releases – picks up pace with the Wilfredo Lam exhibition at Tate Modern, which opens next Wednesday. One look at his works and you'll be amazed he isn't better known over here: a Cuban friend of Picasso, he has a similarly Cubist/Surrealist style to his paintings. Consistently mysterious, vibrant and engaging.
