The Pigeon Detectives
You remember The Pigeon Detectives! No, come on, you do… Remember how you used to chuck your snakebite around to I'm Not Sorry? No? Well they certainly do, and they're charging you to do it all again (March 15, Electric Ballroom). You might even get some new tunes, as they have their fifth album to flog. It features a shower of falling nuclear bombs on the cover, because it's 2017 now and things are Very Bad and Serious. Not like good old 2007.

They're doing six consecutive nights in Glasgow before taking their show south of the border (The Garage, May 10), where you too can wonder how long they're going to leave it before playing Same Jeans. Hopefully they'll change the lyric to "I've had the same jeans on for ten years now", which will likely make your evening. Good luck calming down enough to recount that anecdote afterwards!

Great albums open with a bang. Smells Like Teen Spirit. Gimme Shelter. Straight Outta Compton. "Tales of girls, And boys, And girls, And marsupiaaaaaaaals." Because hang it all, The Wombats' debut IS a great album, at least within the field of "whoa-oh-oh" indie pop. They're billing this one-off gig (June 30, Brixton Academy) as a Tenth Birthday Party, which feels appropriate, given their oeuvre. But all snark aside, Kill The Director is a stone-cold banger.

The Cribs' debut arrived way back in 2004. However, their third album did come out in 2007, and so yes they will be joining this bandwagon thankyouverymuch (Kentish Town Forum, May 18). Don't worry though, because according to the boys themselves, "this isn’t The Cribs indulging ourselves and reliving the past". And to be fair to them, Men's Needs... is a top album. Johnny Marr joined the band off the back of it – only 20 years after he was cool!
Excitement rating: Three Camden Market joss sticks outta five
Bittersweet one this, as the Maccabees' anniversary tour is also their farewell. A crying shame, since last album Marks To Prove It was their best, but at least they're saying goodbye in style with a final three-gig salvo at Ally Pally (June 29-July 1). Lose a shoe during Latchmere, shed a tear at Toothpaste Kisses, and console yourself with the thought that The Pigeon Detectives are recording again. Life finds a way...
